Today we met our sixth winner in our ASB Good As Gold competition - Jean Merrilees

Jean was nominated by her friend Christine:

"Jean Merrilees is a breast cancer survivor and life challenger. She is a champion for encouraging women in her Maori community to seek early detection.

What makes her special is the quiet dignity in which she has faced her disease, never feeling sorry for herself or asking any favours. As a nurse she has worked through her illness and inspired many of her patients and colleagues to be positive and unafraid.

She now has the chance to walk the Wall Of China with her daughter and other cancer survivors. This is a costly exercise. They need to raise $70000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation to take part."

PRIZE: ASB loved the sound of Jean's attitude, so they looked at her fundraising page and saw that she still needs $2,213.75 to make their goal. They're going to round it up to $3000 to get Jean and her daughter to China, plus shout them an amazing night's accommodation at the end of the walk to celebrate their accomplishment.
