The debate over whether prison inmates should be allowed to father a child has stepped up a notch.
Labour MP Trevor Mallard has put before Parliament, on behalf of a convicted murderer, a document calling for inmates to be allowed to donate organs, and to father children from inside jail, via artificial insemination.
One caller to Leighton Smith, Charlie, is hoping the bill goes through. Her husband is in prison serving nine years for murder.
She wants a child and time is running out.
"I've just found out that I've only got two years left to be able to conceive a child. My partner's got nine and a half years left, so the only way possible for us to have children is through IVF treatment."
