Tom Walsh spoke with Nadine Higgins before he stepped on the podium title at the World Athletics Championships in London to receive his gold medal.

Walsh said he it was a huge honour to be the first kiwi to receive the medal.

"I guess it sends shivers down my spine to know I'm the first kiwi to do this ever. We have had a lot of good male athletes in the past so for me to be the first one to achieve that it's pretty cool."
