Mass immigration into Germany is being blamed for the collapse in coalition talks.
Talks between Angela Merkel's CDU party, the pro-business FDP and the Greens have fallen apart after nearly two months of negotiations.
Washington Post foreign affairs reporter, Rick Noack told Rachel Smalley around a million refugees have entered Germany since 2015, but the parties are at odds over how many more should be allowed to enter.
"Angela Merkel's Christian Democratic Union do want to make exceptions and they do want to bring in the families of some of the refugees living here."
