A wake-up call for the International Olympic Committee.
The IOC has awarded future Olympic Games to Paris and Los Angeles, but isn't saying which is hosting 2024 and which is hosting 2028.
Leicester University sport sociology Associate Professor John Williams told Andrew Dickens there were only single bidders for the two games.
"They are having to accept them both. They are having to have a re-announce to decide which of these countries takes which of the games, we are in a new situation."
Williams said it gives the IOC time to have a review and think of ways of making the Games more attractive to potential host cities.
