Brits have just a few hours to have their say on their next government.
Prime Minister Theresa May called the snap election in a bid to strengthen her hand in Brexit negotiations.
Polling booths close at 9 am our time.
UK correspondent Gavin Grey says 46.9 million people registered to vote - slightly up on the last election in 2015.
He told Rachel Smalley polling booths have been busy in university cities like Oxford and Cambridge.
"Where often the turnout is not that high, students don't have a good track record when it comes to voting, apparently they've had queues out the door. That might be because they feel disenfranchised by Brexit."
