Pope Francis says he's willing to consider ordaining older married men in isolated communities, but has ruled out making priestly celibacy optional to tackle a shortage of clergy.
In an interview with Germany's Die Zeit newspaper, the Pope says he will consider the option of ordaining older married men of proven character.
However he ruled out opening the priesthood to all married men or watering down the Catholic Church's commitment to celibacy among priests.Â
