Police in Canada and the US have arrested 41 people over images of child sexual abuse distributed through social media in 17 countries, including New Zealand and Australia.

Nineteen child victims including infants and teenagers have so far been identified.

Police say the abusers appear to be people who the victims trusted or online predators who coerced the victim into creating child sexual abuse materials.
