There has been an upset at the world hot-dog eating contest in New York.

The man who has won New York's world hot-dog eating contest for the past eight years has been beaten in his attempt at a ninth title.

Joey Jaws Chestnut was out-chewed by Matt Stonie.

Stonie downed 62 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, two more than his predecessor.

The next closest competitor managed 32 hot dogs.

Stonie said it feels amazing to win, and put his victory down to training hard for the contest.

"Joey is an amazing competitor. He is a legend of the sport, and to beat him by a couple of hotdogs this year is - you know I train hard for this, I can't say I came in confident but I came in prepared."
