The push to boycott Halal-certified products in Australia, is gaining momentum.

Around 36,000 supporters are behind the 'Boycott Halal in Australia' group which claims the certification's pushing up prices, and funding terrorism.

Australian correspondent Murray Olds told Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking even some political figures are getting behind the movement.

"There's even a National Party federal MP, this idiot George Christensen. He says that vegemite should be clearly labelled as being halal so he can avoid buying it."
