West Indies batsmen Sunil Ambris has suffered a fractured forearm and won't bat again in the second Test against New Zealand in Hamilton.

Ambris, who wasn't wearing an arm guard, was struck on the left arm by Neil Wagner in the 24th over of the second innings as his side floundered in their chase of 444 for victory.

He retired hurt on five.

Ambris suffered a fractured ulna, one of the two main bones in the forearm, but it wouldn't require surgery, a team spokesman says.

The 24-year-old, playing in his second Test, won't be fit for the one-day international series against New Zealand, which starts in Whangarei next week.

A replacement has not yet been named.
