All Blacks prop Joe Moody has delivered Argentina with the ultimate slap in the face ahead of tonight's match in New Plymouth.

He's labelled their once famed scrum shaky through their opening two tests in the Rugby Championship.

Moody is surprised given the high benchmark they've set in that area in the past.

"In recent times they've been a little bit touch and go, they've had some really good scrums then the next they've got pumped or something, so it's a little bit not sure what to expect," he said.

Kick off from New Plymouth is at 7.35pm, with live commentary on Newstalk ZB and Radio Sport.
