Fonterra is looking to strengthen its milk processing facilities in South Canterbury.The dairy giant has started the consultation process with the view of lodging resource consent applications to build two new high-efficiency milk powder driers at its Studholme site.The proposed investment would create an additional nine million litres of capacity to help keep pace with rising milk volumes.Managing director of global operations, Robert Spurway, says should it go ahead, the investment at Studholme will bring much needed processing capacity to the South Island.
