UPDATED 3.34PM: Members of parliament now have more take home in their pocket following a new determination from the Remuneration Authority.
The Prime Minister's pay has been set at just over $435,000 a year, roughly $6,500 higher than it was previously.
Ministers inside cabinet are to get over $272,000 a year - a $4000 raise.
For ordinary MPs, they now get over $150,000 a year, up from $147,800.
Party leaders now get a base salary of over $164,000 a year.
Green Party Co-Leader Metiria Turei received an almost $2,500 pay rise but doesn't think the increase is necessary.
"We thought MPs wages should only go up the nominal amount that workers wages went, so that there was a direct correlation between the two," she said.
"That was our strong recommendation, National ignored it."
Earlier in the year MPs passed legislation designed to restrict future pay rises for MPs.
It tied MP salary movement to that of those in the public service, and reversed a 3.5% pay rise.
