The Green Party is promising to increase support for mothers.
It has released what it's calling the Budget for All Mothers, which will provide up to $220 a week for people who don't qualify for paid parental leave.
It will also extend sick leave from five days to ten, so parents can take time off to look after sick children.
Greens co-leader Metiria Turei said the policy is about giving parents the time and money they need to do a great job.
"This country, in our families and communities, we value our parents, we value our children, but we don't do enough at a government level to show how much we value them."
