The Prime Minister's expecting some sort of arrangement to develop with New Zealand First over this term of his Government.

The party's not going to be part of any formal support deal with National but the door is definitely being left ajar for some agreements down the track.

John Key says over time he does want to build a relationship with New Zealand First and he expects it to happen on a case by case basis.

"There are area that we can potentially work in and together on but it will be a sort of three year process I think."
