Billboards trying to shame Health Minister Jonathan Coleman have sprung up in his Northcote electorate in Auckland this weekend.

The billboards, which have been attached to National Party advertising hoardings by ActionStation, a community campaign group, point to the lack of action around a recommendation for a mental health review.

ActionStation co-director, Marianne Elliott, said it was a way for the group to highlight the extent of public concern, and do it in a way which will be impossible for the minister to ignore.

She said a report which was produced in April, recommending an independent inquiry in to the state of mental health, was dismissed by the minister.

ActionStation co-director Marianne Elliott, said ultimately it is the minister's responsibility, however this is not a message only for him. She said they want all the political parties to be thinking what are they willing to do in terms of prioritising the mental health of New Zealanders.
