Teina Pora has revealed the extent of his anger against police and the justice system.

He's spoken out for the first time since his rape and murder convictions were quashed in March.

Mr Pora has labelled authorities "pricks" over the 21 years he spent behind bars.

He's told TV3's 3D says they're supposed to protect the innocent.

"But to lock away a man for something he didn't do, and let him go through hell and the s**t I had to live with, and then sit and home and feed their kids while my daughter is suffering."

Mr Pora believes he deserves compensation.

"For me it's not about compensation, I want an apology, a state apology."

He says with an apology he could move on, and while compensation wouldn't make up for the two decades he has lost, it would aid his family.

"It would help the cause of my daughter, and my grandson to live a good life."
