UPDATED 5:11pm: Auckland Police say they hold real concerns for the welfare of a missing Indian student who hasn't been seen for more than two days.

20-year-old Mandeep Singh was last seen leaving the Bungalow 8 bar around 3am on Sunday morning. 

The culinary arts student from India, was out with three flatmates who lost contact with him in the Bungalow 8 nightclub at Viaduct Harbour.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Marcia Murray says police have been searching waterways around the Viaduct area today.

"CCTV inquiries are ongoing and we've been following up on that."

Richard McCabe, general manager of Showcase Hospitality which owns Bungalow 8, said closed-circuit TV (CCTV) footage shows that Mr Singh left the club in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"He was showing signs of intoxication and was therefore asked to leave," he said.

"We are co-operating with the police and have provided them with video footage from our CCTV cameras which shows him leaving the building of his own accord and remaining outside the bar for a further 20 minutes.

"As you can imagine, this is a very distressing time for the young man's family. We are co-operating with the police in their investigations and we are not able to comment about the matter."
