A road used to get to a popular tramping spot near Otaki will be reduced to a single lane, over the holidays, because of a slip.

The dropout on Otaki Gorge Road is at the Devil's Elbow bend of the road.

Kapiti Coast District Council's Neil Williams says the area is prone to slips.

He says barriers will be placed on the site until a new wall is designed and built to stop slips happening.

Travellers to the popular picnic and camping area of Otaki Forks will need to take care on the single-lane stretch.
