Former red-zoned land in Waimakariri could be set for a facelift under a recently released plan.

The Draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan has been released for public consultation.

People have a month to have their say over the fate of 84 hectares in Kaiapoi, Kairaki and Pines Beach.

The feedback will then go before Greater Christchurch Regeneration minister Gerry Brownlee.

The minister Gerry Brownlee said the plan will further boost earthquake recovery in the area.

"Kaiapoi is a very dynamic community over the last five years due to earthquake rebuilding. It's reasserted itself as being the great place that it always has been to live."

Mr Brownlee doesn't foresee the public feedback including any expensive suggestions.

"I can't imagine that the public feedback is going to be demanding any particular expense over and above the presumed expense in the current plan, so let's just let it run out and see what comes of it."
