UPDATED 12.07pm:Â Canterbury Police used spikes to stop a driver who led police on a 45 minute pursuit.
The driver was caught in near Rakaia, more than 80 kilometres from where the pursuit started in Christchurch.
He failed to stop for police in Middleton just before 10am this morning.
Multiple police cars were involved in the chase.
It is not yet known if he's been charged.
