The Maori Party's future co-leader says the debate around our flag needs to include other key symbols of our national culture.

Marama Fox says if we are going to look at the flag we should look at other symbols of our united cultures.

"Why not the anthem, why not the place of Maori language in our schools, why not a whole raft of things that see a closer unification of things Maori and things of our dual nationhood."
