The names of 10,000 offenders has been given to border officials by the Corrections Department in a bid to prevent another escape in the wake of the Phillip Smith case.
The convicted killer and paedophile's escape to Brazil in December has also prompted officials to ramp up GPS tracking and cut temporary releases for prisoners by 25 percent.
Corrections boss Ray Smith has detailed the changes before a Parliamentary select committee.
He's assured it that information-sharing gaps have been addressed.
