Those struggling with New Zealand's apple shortage, will have to struggle for just a little longer.
LISTEN: Managing Director of Scales, Andy Borland, talks to Bernadine Oliver-Kerby about the apple shortage.Â
Supermarkets nationwide have been battling to fill their shelves with the fruit, which is normally available year-round.
The only apples available are said to be floury and unappetising.
Managing Director of Scales, the parent company of Mr Apple NZ, Andy Borland told Bernadine Oliver-Kerby the shortage is due to a strong export season last year.
"The apples produced last year have found ready homes overseas for good money, so the growers have obviously taken advantage of that and sold out probably earlier than they normally would of."
Borland said the new season apples will be in the market by the second week of February.
