Online crime is costing New Zealanders hundreds of millions of dollars.
The latest Norton Cybersecurity report shows eight out of ten New Zealand consumers surveyed believe they will experience online crime.
Spokesman Mark Shaw said the reality is that online crime is more prevalent than ever.
"We've seen around one in four New Zealanders being victimised by online or cyber crime over the past year, which equated to a financial impact of around $256 million dollars."
He said the issues had cost each of those people around 22 hours to resolve.
Shaw said eigthy three percent of people felt that the chance of being an online victim was significant enough to worry about.
"..and almost nine out of ten responded and said they'd feel devastated if their personal financial information was compromised."
