The New Zealand First Party's worried quake damage to Government buildings in the capital may be worse than is being let on.

The party's up in arms over the likely demolition of Defence House because of damage caused to it by last year's Kaikoura earthquakes.

Party Deputy Leader Ron Mark isn't happy at how issues with the building have been publicised by the Government and the Defence Force, saying neither have been up front about it's condition.

But he also wants to know how many other government used buildings might be in the same situation.

"How many more buildings built by these architects are in the same situation and what's the cost of the taxpayer and how is the government dealing with that... or are they doing what we see them to be doing, just sitting there like a bunch of dummies doing nothing."
