A child sex offender will stay in a Lower Hutt suburb despite residents wanting him out.
The offender has been moved into Maungaraki, where earlier this week residents held a public meeting voicing their concern.
There are a number of strict conditions around the man, who's electronically monitored and banned from schools and parks.
Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace said there was a lot upset at Corrections' decision.
"Much of the community do feel let down that Corrections haven't gone as widely as they should have in consulting the locals," he said.
