Labour's Families Package has been passed.
The urgent debate dragged parliament's regular sitting hours out from yesterday afternoon and has tested the tempers of some MPs, with David Seymour being ejected from the house this afternoon.
The legislation boosts the amount paid through Working for Families, introduces a payment for newborn babies, and gives a home heating payment to the elderly.
It also repeals National's universal income tax cuts.
The package is expected to cost $5.5 billion and will come into effect in July.
