A number of the country's health professionals have already put their hand up to take part in the fight against Ebola.
Thirty four of them have registered their interest to be one of the 24 volunteers New Zealand will deploy to an Australian-flagged mission in Sierra Leone.
Health Minister Jonathan Coleman says successful applicants will undergo intensive training both in New Zealand and Sierra Leone.
It's expected to be six weeks before any kiwis are deployed.
