Most of the country is looking at a dry Christmas Day.
MetService meteorologist Eric Holland says there's a few showers forecast for parts of the country as a frontal band heads from south to north over the next few days.
And he said that band may hang tentatively over the far north on Christmas Eve and the day itself.
Mr Holland said it's too early to tell for sure if that means showers for the Bay of Plenty-northwards, but the South Island's definitely clear.
"It is looking like settled weather over the South Island Christmas day and hopefully for a day or two afterwards."
