Kindergarten children are hoping to persuade the Government to ban plastic bags.

Laingholm Kindergarten's set to present a visual petition, which is made up of over 400 kids' drawings, today.

The grim drawings show sick turtles, birds and fish.

Head teacher Janice Dawson says the kindergarten banned plastic bags last year.

She says exposing kids to plastic pollution is rewarding, but not always pleasant.

"They don't like seeing it and they will come in with stories that they found rubbish and plastic on the beach, and they take the message home."

Dawson says they might be young but the children feel strongly about the issue.

"They have a little chant about 'no more plastic bags, we want to save the turtles'. They are very knowledgeable about what's happening to the environment."
