Updated 1.18pm: The transformation of Christchurch's Hagley Oval has the backing of the Sport and Recreation Minister, as the city prepares for the Cricket World Cup.
Jonathan Coleman has today inspected the premises, where over 11-thousand temporary seats have been installed.
He says the opening ceremony in two weeks time will showcase Christchurch to the world.
"You couldn't get a better place to play international cricket in the world. Great playing surface, great wicket block, already been tested with the Boxing Day test."
Meanwhile every Black Caps match at the Cricket World Cup is tipped to be a sell out.
The Black Caps will play six pool matches throughout the tournament, with a March match against Afghanistan the only one not close to selling out.
But World Cup CEO Therese Walsh doesn't think it will be long before that game follows suit, as ticket sales are picking up.
She says attention is now turning to how to make non-black caps games a smash hit.
