Immigration New Zealand will consult with police following revelations Kim Dotcom didn't reveal a dangerous driving conviction when he sought residency.
The Government agency says it does not usually carry out police checks on applicants who have been in the country for less than 12 months, if there are "no reasonable grounds" to assume they committed a crime here.
But after the New Zealand Herald revealed he was convicted of dangerous driving in September 2009, Immigration New Zealand says it will check with police.
If the police confirm that conviction, then deportation will be considered - but an assessment on that could take months to be carried out.
