Safety at the country's busiest airport has entered a new age today.
Auckland Airport has unveiled its new $5 million marine rescue fleet.
The new fleet includes a Griffon hovercraft, a 12-metre firefighting catamaran, and an 11-metre monohull rescue boat.
In planning the upgrade, airport staff worked with experts from Singapore's Changi Airport, which is located in a similar marine environment.
The new marine rescue fleet complements a similar upgrade to the airport's firefighting trucks last year.
