Air New Zealand and Air China are officially banding together, to form a strategic alliance.
The two airlines announced their intention for the move in November last year, but it's only just been signed off by Transport Minister Simon Bridges for an initial term of five years and four months.
He said the alliance means more flights and lower fares, which hopefully translates to New Zealand being a more attractive destination for Chinese travellers.
Mr Bridges said as well as expanding services, Air China will actively market New Zealand as a visitor destination.
