A proposal to help Emergency Department patients transition through the health system with ease has won the backing of the Health Minister.

Tom Morton, an emergency physician at Nelson Marlborough DHB, has won this year's Clincians' Challenge,

His project features an information system, which displays data to help manage patients better.

Jonathan Coleman says it's an impressive achievement to win the award, out of a total of 79 entries.

Tom Morton will receive $10,000 to continue developing his proposal.
