Removing toys from the menu may not stop children pestering their parents for fast food, or put an end to fast-food-related harm.

Burger King has announced it will remove toys from kids' meals and stop advertising the meals on kids' TV.

Registered nutritionist Bronwen King says it's a positive step but children will still be targeted with ads on evening TV.

"I think we've got to be a lot more careful about advertising and marketing of these fast food products."

Bronwen King hopes the chain will consider other ways to make fast food less harmful.

"Using healthier fats and oils, vegetable oils, looking at portion sizes and combos."

The industry continues to expand, with Restaurant Brands recording a 20% increase in annual profit.
