Close to 3000 aged care workers take their case to the Employment Relations Authority in Auckland today.
25 caregivers, each representing 100 caregivers, will file equal pay claims.
The female dominated workforce claims the industry's pay scale is a clear case of gender discrimination.
Regional director of organising Andrea Rushton says just because they work in aged care doesn't mean their work isn't valuable.
"They look after our parents and our grandparents and the work they do is really highly skilled, it's not just looking after them. They bathe them, they feed them, they help them have good active lives."
