A teenager has been caught driving at nearly twice the speed limit on a quiet suburban street in Hamilton.
The 18-year-old was clocked travelling at 96 kilometres an hour on Alconbury Drive about midday.
Road Policing Manager, Inspector Freda Grace, says the teen couldn't explain why he was travelling so fast on a street with a 50km limit.
She says he'd only been on his restricted licence for a month and that's now been suspended.
He's also been fined $600.
