A media commentator says Campbell Live's downfall might have been because it no longer fit with the TV3 brand.
John Campbell was attracting big audiences, but those audiences weren't sticking around for what was on afterwards.
Russel Brown says there was nothing else the programme could have done to show its worth.
"16,17 nights that the review has been going, it's been the most watched show on the channel."
TV ratings back this assertion up, though Campbell Live still failed to beat Seven Sharp in the 7.00pm timeslot.
It will be replaced with a four night a week co-hosted current affairs show.
Russel Brown says he thinks it'll be much lighter, with a lot less current affairs.
"I think it'll be 3 Sharp - put it that way. It seems pretty clear from what (Mediaworks Head of News and Current Affairs) Mark Jennings said that it will be lighter."
But he says that talent won't be like John Campbell - and neither will the show.
