An investigation's underway after a car careered out of control, smashing into two pedestrians in Hutt Valley.

The teenagers were on the footpath outside Cash Converters in Queens Drive when they were struck about six last night.

They were both hospitalised with suspected broken legs.

The driver who hit them is to face two charges of Dangerous Driving Causing Injury.

He walked away unscathed from the crash.

Police are urging anyone with information about what happened to get in touch.
