A woman was seriously injured this morning, in a high speed crash on Awhitu Peninsula.

An Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene at around quarter past eight.

Along with Fire, Police, and Ambulance, helicopter paramedics helped extract the woman from her vehicle, which was badly damaged in the crash.

The patient, who is in her twenties, was flown to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition.
