A person is understood to have been stabbed in the Bay of Plenty town of Katikati.

Police say emergency services were sent to a home on Hot Springs Road just south of Katikati shortly after 7pm this evening.

At least one person was taken to hospital though their status is not yet known.

Police were talking to people at the scene. No-one had been taken into police custody at this stage.
