Nine people are injured, two seriously, after a three-car crash near Hobbiton.

Waikato Police were called to the crash at the intersection of State Highway 29 and Hopkins Road.

The intersection is a popular entrance to the Hobbiton tourist attraction and is expected to remain closed for a few hours.

A helicopter has been called for the injured people, and the police serious crash unit is investigating due to the number of involved.
