The man shot by Police in Rotorua earlier this month has died.

Police saids 35-year-old Rotorua man Shargin Stephens died in Waikato Hospital yesterday.

The death will be referred to the Coroner and a post mortem is due to be held today.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are still asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are today appealing for the young men who filmed video of the incident that was widely circulated by media to contact them.

They also want anyone with information or footage of the event  to contact police to help build a more detailed picture of what occurred.
