A motorcyclist's died just north of Whangarei this morning.
A member of the public found his bike in a ditch on State Highway One at Kauri and reported it just after 4am.
The highway's closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigates, and police anticipate it won't re-open for several hours.
There are diversions around Saleyards Road.
