The Board of Trustees at Rangiora High School in Christchurch has been sacked, and replaced with a Commissioner.
The change is effective from now.
Issues relating to finance, employment and communication have been pinpointed within the school.
It's understood the matters relating to finance are largely to do with the management of large investments, resulting from the sale of farm lands a few years ago.
The Ministry of Education has declined to comment further, but says the school's principal will remain in place.
