A Government pilot scheme to improve access to services for children with special needs is being expanded.
Education Minister Nikki Kaye said the programme was trialled in three Communities of Learning in the Bay of Plenty, and has been so successful it is being expanded to another 30 across the country.
She estimated the 15 Ministry of Education staff who are being placed as facilitators will be able to help 70 thousand more children access the learning support services they need.
But the Green Party said it will not change a thing, as children with dyslexia and autism already are not getting the services they need due to a lack of funding.
Education spokeswoman Catherine Delahunty said it is a band-aid solution to avoid spending money on those who really need it.
