A woman stabbed a man in the chest with a knife after he picked her up in his car West Auckland on Friday night.

The Herald on Sunday can reveal after the 28-year-old man collected the woman from an address in Massey, the pair drove to Triangle Rd and the woman told him to turn down a driveway which he didn’t know. A police source said once the car was parked, another man jumped out of the bushes and approached the car with a weapon.

The man tried to drive away but the woman in the car with him stabbed him in the chest. The man tried to get away down Triangle Rd, but stopped in the middle of the arterial road in Massey to try find help.

He collapsed in the middle of a roundabout at the corner of Triangle Rd and Huruhuru Rd where people tried to help him.

A police spokesman said emergency services arrived on the scene at 11.50pm and the man was taken to Waitakere Hospital by ambulance with a deep cut just below his collar bone. It is understood the man also suffered a collapsed lung.

Henderson police CIB are investigating the incident and yesterday officers were seen interviewing people who lived on Triangle Rd.

A man who lives near the roundabout said he was woken by a knock on his door by a police officer about 1am but by the time he got up, the officer had walked away.

From his window, he could see a number of police cars with their lights flashing and a cordon at the roundabout.

He did not know a man had been stabbed and after being told what happened, said: “That’s pretty disturbing actually”.

Another woman who lived near the scene also woke to police cars but didn’t know what happened.

“That’s scary. Nothing like that has happened near here before.”
